6 days to go!

So I've got 6 days before I leave for my study abroad program to Japan.

I leave on the 26th of August... I'm so incredibly excited!

Actually, I'm probably more nervous than I am excited lately.........

I've found out my school, my host family (and of course where I've been put)... but there's still a lot that I have to do before I leave.

I still have to finish buying my host family presents (planning on doing that this weekend), I have to clean up my room, and I should probably start packing or at least writing a list of things I need to pack before I leave.

My parents want me to buy most of my new clothes while I'm in Japan, so that's cool... So I probably won't be bringing a whole lot of stuff with me on the plane.

I'm a bit confused about what I'm supposed to be doing about my plane...

We're (by we, I mean my friend and me) supposed to be leaving the airport closest to us to go to the San Francisco International Airport... since the company's headquarters are in San Fran. Then we take a flight from San Fran to Japan.

So I'm kinda confused... My mom had to do the same thing once. And basically, she was told a billion times that she would go to domestic first and then at San Francisco, change to go to international. But when she got in line for domestic, the people at the airport told her she had to go to international. So she's thinking that the same thing is going to happen to me.

Of course, the person that told her this was the travel company people or whatever... and my program advisor has told my friend that we're taking domestic then switching. I'm hoping that the same thing doesn't happen to us...

But it's kinda weird. They told us we're not seeing our luggage until after we get to Japan. I kinda figured that meant we were taking international all the way........

Maybe I should call my program advisor too....

Anyways.

My host family seems great. The oldest daughter is really nice... I've been talking to her every now and then via email. The only thing that makes me mad is that sometimes their computer can't read the Japanese that I've typed in or whatever. Of course it's not their fault... but I can't figure out why it's doing that... I can read it perfectly fine over here... and it's only like every other email or something. So it's kind of annoying that I can't figure it out.

Well... other than that, all of my teachers have basically told me that I don't need to do any of my work and that I should just pretend to pay attention and make sure that I'm participating in all the group activities or whatever.

So that's what I've been doing in school so far. I've also decided that I'm going to unregister from my school a day early. I was planning on un-enrolling on Monday (the day before I leave), but I've decided that I want to use the entire Monday to pack. So I'm going to unregister myself in Friday.

Saturday I'm going to dinner with friends... so I'm excited for that.

Sunday I'm doing any final shopping stuff... and I have a hair appointment but that has nothing to do with the program. :)

Oh. I'm not sure how often I'll be able to get on the internet over in Japan... I don't want to bother my host family and apparently internet is expensive over there... This, of course, also means that I have to cut down on some of my drama watching. I'm going to have to watch whatever's on TV. Oh well. I'm sure I'll be fine for five months.........

But yeah. Whenever I can get on, I'm definitely going to be blogging... and answering my emails. But that's about it. :)

Well then I'll probably write again... either the day before I leave or sometime after I'm there.

But before then, I highly doubt that I'll have anything else to say.

i can't get a visa because i'm technically a japanese citizen.

so i have to get a japanese passport.

if everything goes SMOOTHLY i'll be able to get that passport about a week before i'm supposed to leave.

and if it doesn't... what am i supposed to do?!
and then... no one at the company i'm going through is picking up their phones. so i can't ask any questions or anything.

argh.

this is so dumb.

i hope they pick up soon.

by the way, does anyone know anything about the whole... Japanese downloading laws... or whatever?

Didn't they get like wayyyy strict with that? I'm so totally confused on it... but I kinda need information. I download all of my dramas from D-Addicts and such. Do you think that'd be a problem when I'm in Japan?

Cuz I don't think I can watch all of my dramas on my host family's TV. They might think I'm a weirdo or something haha. Plus most of them are later at night... so yeah. Anyways. If anyone has ANY information, please let me know!!!

I was finally able to send out my first email to my host family...

It took me THREE FREAKING DAYS to write!!!! First, I had to talk it out with my mom. Because apparently she doesn't want me asking "personal" questions or anything, so that I can save them for when I actually meet them face to face. So basically I can't ask them if they like the same music as me or whatever.

I hope they won't mind that I love Johnny's......

Anyways. Then I wrote out a draft for my email in the little notebook that I'm keeping now (of all things related to my study abroad trip...) and then I finally typed it out in Japanese. Then I printed it out, had my mom check it over, and then I finally sent it.

So yeah. A lot of effort went into this one email... I can't WAIT for a response!!! :D

Oh. If anyone knows anything about Saga, Japan... please tell me!!! I'm doing research but yeah. It's nice to hear from other people as well :)

so i'm staying in saga (not my choice at all...) with a family of four. i have two younger sisters!!! never had sisters before... but yeah. they're 15 and 12. oh. and i'm going to a school called saga commercial high school. if anyone has ANY information on this school, can you tell me? i'm really curious... well. ok. i'll admit it. i just want to know what the uniforms are like :)

anyways... i'm SO EXCITED!!!!

even if i wanted to go to kanagawa...

anyone been to saga? i REALLY REALLY wanna know more... i've been reading about it on wikipedia and all, but... yeah.......

anyways. just thought i'd update!

now... i'd better sleep.....
